How many diapers should I have?

It really depends on each family¡¦s practice in laundering. If the baby¡¦s clothing is normally being hand washed, you need relatively less, perhaps a dozen of cloth diapers, half a dozen of absorbent liners and 3 covers. If the baby¡¦s clothing is being machine washed, you would need more of the quantity, probably double of what it¡¦s required from hand wash.

In Hong Kong, since the humidity varies between different seasons, the quantity of diapers required also varies, and dependent upon which method you choose for drying.

How long does the diaper last?

You can expect to put one child through a set of Mother-ease One Size Diapers. However, the longevity is dependent upon several factors:
  1. Washing method ¡V Hand wash makes less harsh than machine wash.

  2. Drying method ¡V Line dry or using dehumidifier is less harsh than using tumble dryer.

  3. Laundry additives ¡V some of them used to whiten and brighten are hard on clothes.

Why using cloth instead of disposable can reduce baby rash?

The super absorbent gel inside disposables would give baby a feeling of dryness, but please not to misunderstand the ¡§dryness¡¨ is equivalent to ¡§cleanliness¡¨. Urine absorbed into the gel breaks down into ammonia, causing irritation to the baby¡¦s skin that makes baby rash more easily caused. But cloth diapers made from natural fiber have excellent absorbency that do not release chemicals. Therefore, using cloth diapers is a better choice for baby¡¦s health. Simply remember, rash is reduced if baby is clean and chemical free.

My baby has a rash. What should I do?

Keep your baby as dry as possible, changing his diaper as soon as it's wet. Diapers should always be washed in plenty of hot water using a mild detergent.

Why a baby diapered in cloth generally toilet train earlier than diapered in disposable?

Toilet training is an important step on the way to increased competence and confidence. With the advent of disposable pull-ups, it¡¦s not uncommon to see four- and five-year old children who still aren¡¦t completely potty trained. This late potty training has an obvious negative impact on a child¡¦s self-esteem. Babies diapered with cloth tend to toilet train earlier and more quickly because they know when they are wet.

How do I remove stains?

A cloth diaper is bound to have some stain since it holds the urine and stool for your baby. One way to reduce the stain in the first place is to rinse off urine and stool with cold water, because warm and hot water would make the stain stayed on. For the health of baby, we do not recommend usage of bleach, because the chemical in bleach is very harsh against baby's skin. We recommend other natural ways, such as direct sunlight, and usage of coarse salt or lemon. If you insist to remove completely the stain, choose a type of bleach that is mild.

Why do some of our diapers contain polyester?

Cotton is a very absorbent fiber but not very durable. Because the intent of our diapers is to take a child from birth to toilet training, durability is essential. Not all parents (or babies) are gentle on our diapers you know! Our fabrics are custom knitted for us. We choose to include a very small amount of polyester in the fabric's base to provide shrinkage control and ensure product longevity wash after wash. The fabric is knitted in a special way to ensure only 100% cotton touches your baby's delicate skin.

Would the soiled diaper make it very messy to clean out?

Please refer to the Washing & Care page. <click> You can simply rinse it out with cold water over the toilet, and wash it like the others just being wet. There is an optional accessory that you may choose - disposable liners. They are placed in the cloth diaper and allow for quick clean-up when the diaper is soiled. These liners are lightweight and are simply discarded after use.
